Author Bio

Michelle spent most of her professional life as the owner of a boutique real estate company in Austin, TX.

In 2015 sobriety upended Michelle’s life causing her to seek out a profession that connected her to others on a deeper level. Michelle obtained her Chemical Dependency Counselor License and spent the next several years working every level of substance abuse treatment from detox to outpatient. It was during this time that Michelle started listening to people tell their most vulnerable stories. Each story held the thousands of threads that made up the fabric of a person’s life. Within these stories were ordinary people with extraordinary experiences.

In 2020 Michelle’s mom was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. In an instant Michelle, an ordinary person, had extraordinary stories, leading her to write her first book, Did Mom Drop Acid?

Her passion for wanting to share life’s unscripted true stories lead to the founding of Bird House Publications, LLC. The company’s name is inspired by its Chief Nest Operator (CNO) Nigel; Michelle’s African Gray Parrot who can be found perched next to her while she writes.

Her next book, Real Sober, is in the works, and continues to share true stories that are raw, vulnerable, and real. She hopes that through storytelling, it will inspire other messy humans to be real and tell their stories.
